Information for Students
Applying for IGERT Funding

Applications are invited from participating departments for graduate fellowships and scholarships to support students involved in research at the interface of biology, mathematics and physics. Awards can be made to help in the recruitment of outstanding students to the University of Arizona, or to support current students engaged in research consistent with the goals of the initiative. Awards can only be made to U.S. nationals or permanent residents. All applications are considered by the IGERT steering committee according to the following procedures.

The applications must come thought the department's Graduate committee. Students who want to be considered for IGERT funding should indicate so in a letter to the department which they are seeking admission and to the IGERT Coordinator. The departments graduate committee should then submit:

1) a list of candidates
2) a covering letter summarizing each candidate's suitability for an award
3) a copy of each student's file.

All applications from participating departments must be received by the IGERT Coordinator no later than March 1st. (this date should allow most participating graduate programs to complete their recruiting exercises and workshops.)

If you have any questions about these procedures and the decision timetable, please contact the IGERT Coordinator (Linda Silverman) via email or by calling (520) 621-2016.
